Prayer is an open line of communication to God to hear his heart and discover his will. In addition to making you more spiritually sensitive, prayer will give you guidance. You can talk to God all the time, every day in all kind of circumstances.
Here are some tips for developing a strong prayer life to support your life and calling:
Record your prayers. Some people like to keep a prayer journal to record their conversations with God. This can be especially powerful when you revisit the entries and see what God has done. Others keep a prayer poster on the wall. On this poster you can record the prayer, the date of the prayer and the answers for petition. A prayer poster provides a visual reminder of God’s faithfulness, answers, and guidance.
Pray all kinds of prayers and requests. In Ephesians 6:18, Paul says to pray all kinds of prayers and requests. Prayer is much more than petition. Prayer includes praising God, confessing sin, thanking God for what he has done and is going to do, and worshiping him.
Pray in submission. In all things when you pray, remember we are to submit to Christ. Jesus said he came to do the will of his father. Our prayer lives are to be a reflection of the submission of our hearts just as Jesus’ prayer life was a reflection of his.
Pray daring prayers. Some people spend their lives praying safe prayers and only what they know they can accomplish in their own strength. God wants you to pray daring, believing prayers in all areas of life and for your calling. What you can do in your own strength is only the beginning of how God can use you for him. Can you imagine what would happen if you dared to pray for that which you thought was impossible?
What a magnificent thing that the creator of the universe invites us to talk with him! God wants to know you and for you to know him through prayer.
